The Hottest Eye Cream Now!

We pretty much all need to use an eye product; not just at my age, but really from our early 20s onwards, when we start to see those darling expression lines start to take devious shape! Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE laughter lines! What I don’t love are those dry, crepey, accumulated fine lines that quickly reveal our true age faster than any other part of our face.

Fact is, the skin under our eyes is the driest, thinnest exposed skin on our body, constantly exposed to the elements, UV and pollution, while forever spontaneously squinting and creasing with every emotion. Sure we can freeze them, but our expressions make us who we are. I’m not into freezing, fixing and conforming to look like everyone else. I’m much more about caring for your skin while it’s healthy, to keep it smoother and firmer as possible, for as long as possible.

So #sneakpeek, lately I’ve used this new eye cream … and it launches today.

Olay Eyes Pro-Retinol Eye Treatment is a serum-like cream that literally glides on skin, instantly smooths – making it great under makeup (something I often have an issue with) – and I had absolutely no irritation or redness whatsoever (even as a redhead). So much so, this tiny tube, to use morning and night is tempting to carry in my bag and use midday too (sssh!)! And I won’t deny, I even apply it to my ageing upper lip…aka ‘the philtrum’ – as I do with the residue on my fingertips of most eye creams I use.

Tune into the latest in my JOGB series: In Bed With Jo on YouTube where I interview one of my fave skin experts (shown below), Dr Frauke Neuser, Principal Scientist at Olay, to discuss retinoids, eye care and how to use wear it well. Come say ‘hi’ and do subscribe to see more!

At £29.99 it’s a great Mother’s Day Gift too!

What makes it different? Prescription formulas contain retinoic acid (vitamin A), the gold standard ingredient to fight visible aging, acne, rosacea and sun damage. Nonprescription alternatives, however, need to be converted into retinoic acid by the skin at the cellular level, mainly in our skin lipids. Retinol is gentler than retinoic acid, biochemically doing the same thing, just takes a bit longer. Olay Eyes Pro-Retinol Eye Treatment contains retinyl propionate, a retinyl ester in the retinoid family that is a less irritating form of vitamin A as it provides a slow release delivery, yet improvement has been shown in just four weeks of use.

“Hold on, aren’t retinoids just for nighttime?” Contrary to popular opinion certain retinoids (the family name) are photostable and so can be worn morning and night for the best results. Daily, regular application is the key for the best results.

“Is retinol around the eyes not likely to cause redness or irritation?” Our eyes are the first visible place to show lines and wrinkles, and research shows that retinoids are the best at reducing lines and wrinkles when used above and below the eyes. Scientifically proven to reduce pigmentation and smooth deeper wrinkles, Olay have cleverly combined the pro-retinol retinyl propionate with peptides, niacinamide (vitamin B3 and a great skin anti-ager). This gives the best, stable formulation to gently plump up this delicate skin.
